I also upgraded my keyboard and mouse over the holidays. Mechanical keyboard (Razer Blackwidow Ultimate) and Cyborg Rat 7
Wow, this thing is a beast! That's a crazy looking mouse too.

That is a cool looking mouse!
I guess I never mentioned to you my extreme dislike of Seagate drives. Ever since they absorbed Maxtor I stopped trusting them!
I have no real basis for my dislike other than that. I have had a LOT of drive failures with Maxtor drives.
ATI video? What are you thinking?!?!?!? Traitor!
Remember... Where ever you go, there you are...
I had two Seagate drives die on me in the last year. The first one was the same one you just bought which died after having installed for about 8 months or so. (Luckily it was only my media drive which had everything backed up on my home SAN). The other one was a 500gb which I had for about 3 or 4 years (The only seagate I've intentionally bought.). I'm for Western Digital only at the moment. And seriously? A Radeon GPU? GeForce is the unofficial standard for gaming being evident that there is a GeForce label on most big release PC games (but seriously, who buys games in a store anymore).
Computer is now officially built, the two seagate drives are in an external. I picked up a WD black caviar 1TB for the computer.
What is the standard for gaming? There is none unless you have a money tree.
I would have gone for gtx470 but you need a nuclear power generator to SLI that. So i went for ATI because it's power consumption is less demanding and scales pretty well in crossfire against it's high end predecessor (HD5870).
On another note, who buys games these days anyway >.> piracy all the way...except for the absolute big hits from valve and blizzard (portal 2 // diablo 3)
The Standard is whatever is preferred by those developing the games. The devices they are using to actually code it. As a developer I can assure you it makes a difference. They may test on an ATI just to make sure it works, but they are using Nvidia's on their dev machines.
As for power consumption, the Nvidia's consume more because they are doing more... I would have recommended a lower model with lower power requirements if that was an issue. Or even better instead of SLI'ing two high end Nvidia cards, just get one. That will most likely be better in the long run for compatibility and performance than two ATI's...
I know it's too late for that, but maybe you can sell the ATI's to someone... lol..
I never pirate anything. I don't condone that in anyway. If I don't like a company's policies I simply don't support them buy not buying their products including Games. Case in point, Modern Warfare 2 and the rest of the COD newer games, throw in the new games that are charging $60 a game instead of $50.
