Carl Sagan - 'A Glorious Dawn' ft Stephen Hawking (Cosmos Remixed)
A musical tribute to two great men of science. Carl Sagan and his cosmologist companion Stephen Hawking present: A Glorious Dawn - Cosmos remixed. Almost all samples and footage taken from Carl Sagan's Cosmos and Stephen Hawking's Universe series.
Lyrics:[Sagan]If you wish to make an apple pie from scratchYou must first invent the universeSpace is filled with a network of wormholesYou might emerge somewhere else in spaceSome when-else in timeThe sky calls to usIf we do not destroy ourselvesWe will one day venture to the starsA still more glorious dawn awaitsNot a sunrise, but a galaxy riseA morning filled with 400 billion sunsThe rising of the milky wayThe Cosmos is full beyond measure of elegant truthsOf exquisite interrelationships Of the awesome machinery of natureI believe our future depends powerfully On how well we understand this cosmosIn which we float like a mote of dustIn the morning skyBut the brain does much more than just recollectIt inter-compares, it synthesizes, it analyzes it generates abstractionsThe simplest thought like the concept of the number one Has an elaborate logical underpinningThe brain has it's own languageFor testing the structure and consistency of the world[Hawking]For thousands of yearsPeople have wondered about the universeDid it stretch out foreverOr was there a limitFrom the big bang to black holesFrom dark matter to a possible big crunchOur image of the universe todayIs full of strange sounding ideas[Sagan}How lucky we are to live in this timeThe first moment in human history When we are in fact visiting other worldsThe surface of the earth is the shore of the cosmic oceanRecently we've waded a little way outAnd the water seems inviting
Remember... Where ever you go, there you are...
That's awesome.

Troop:That's awesome.
I knew you would like this :)
I'm addicted... I have heard it 88 times as I write this...
This is the image for the album cover that I assigned to the track in iTunes. Yes I downloaded the track... lol..
Yeah, I downloaded the track too. I'm also addicted. I wish Carl Sagan was still alive...
Have you ever actually watched either series? I know they have Cosmos on hulu, and they have a series titled "The Universe" but I'm not sure if that's the work of Stephen Hawkings (I don't think it is). I haven't had enough time to watch either one but I'd like to and probably will eventually.
I have watched the Cosmos series. Loved it, used to DVR it., I'll check the Universe on Hulu and see if that is the right one. by the way download the Hulu desktop app, best way to watch HULU!
I have this song on loop. I'm not sure how many times I've listened to it, but it never gets old! I want to watch Cosmos but it's old and I'm sure the science has changed. I'm worried about learning things wrong (I don't really know anything about astronomy). The Universe that's on Hulu is practically an action show but I might be able to get some neat tid-bits out of it. I think in the end I'll have to resort to reading/studying from a few Astronomy books...Oh, and I'd hate to forget about Academic Earth's astronomy videos: http://academicearth.org/subjects/astronomy
