Apparently Soichiro's death didn't give much of an impact on Light and the rest of the group as they continue their hunt on Kira like nothing happened. As Kira’s hold over the world grows, a television program called Kingdom of Kira starts airing on Sakura Television hosted by Demegawa who claims to be Kira’s spokesman. More importantly, the American president announces that the United States is accepting Kira and will no longer oppose him. This does not mean that they think Kira is righteous, but with war and crime gone, they won’t try to catch Kira anymore. This came as a great shock to Light's gang and it even suprised Light/Kira, though it's a very nice suprise. Finally America too will be ruled by Kira, but the battle ain't over yet.

Back at the SPK's headquarters an unexpected visitor arrives, Mello. He came to retrieve the last remaining picture of him as this will prevent Kira from killing him using that picture. In return, Mello reveals a very important detail about the death note to Near: one of the rules listed in the death note is fake. With this new information, Near immideately confronts Light with this new info. As they both agree on how the '13 day' rule would probably be fake, Light's thrustworthy team now have their doubts about Light, since he has nothing to prove his innocence anymore. Near has become more of a threat then he could ever think of and Light therefor needs to get rid of him asap. Light secretly contacts the President of the United States as Kira and asks for the breakup of the SPK and he also has to find out about the location of their headquarters. With the location being published, Demegawa and his team sets out to films the event around the SPK building as angry Kira supporters are breaking in, leaving Near and his team no choice but to surrender and leave the building. With Misa watching the event, she's ordered to write down Near's real name name in the death note as soon as she gets a clear view of his face when he leaves the building..
