Macross Zero (OAV)

 Basically, its the prequel of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. It takes place one year before the Zentradi arrive on Earth. Macross Zero is based on the final days of the war between the U.N. Spacy and the Anti-U.N. factions. Based around the characters Shin Kudo, who is an ace pilot who was shot down and was found on the island of Mayan where there is almost no technology. The Mayan people's culture is very spiritual and they follow a different view on how mankind was created. They believe that an alien brought them from space creating one person, this alien is known as the Birdman, this Birdman was told to destroy the creations that he made and start a new, but instead he chopped off his head and that created another person. Then they began to reproduce, etc etc. So anyways back to the main story, as Shin heals his wounds from being shot down, the island would be devastated in a massive battle between a war.

This is the initial start of robotechnology, where the VF-0 are put into motion and used in battles. Shin would later be found by the U.N. Spacy forces and then tested out as one of the VF-0 pilots. Lots of crazy mecha battles happen and the Birdman appears again as the U.N. Spacy and Anti-U.N. factions have pieces of the Birdman. Those pieces would reform and begin an attempt to sing the song of destruction which would destroy everything. Stuff happens and .....(watch it for yourself) This also gives an insight to what Folker was doing before he became ace pilot of skull squadron back in the SDF(Super Dimension Fortress) Macross anime.
